The Probasco Distinguished Chair of Free Enterprise

Mission

The mission of the Probasco Chair is to study the American free enterprise system and the conditions under which it operates most efficiently, engage in high-level scholarly research, and contribute to the public knowledge and understanding of economic theory and practice.

Upcoming Events

In addition to hosting a number of international conferences, the Probasco Chair also hosts the Burkett Miller Distinguished Lecture Series, an annual event that brings notable scholars, practitioners and thinkers to the UTC campus to address topics critical to understanding the market economy.

Center for Economic Education

The mission of the CEE is to equip PreK-12 schools with standards-based resources and professional development to teach economics, personal finance and the free enterprise system using practical, innovative and inspiring methods.

Do you have a great idea that needs funding?

The Probasco Chair offers funding opportunities for faculty development, student development, and public awareness, including, but not limited to:

  • Public Lectures

  • Guest Speakers for Students and Faculty

  • Faculty and Student Travel Grants

  • Student Discussion Colloquiums

  • Faculty Research Seminars

  • Research Support

  • Study Abroad Financial Support

Strong consideration will be given to projects that closely align with the mission and values of the Chair.

The Student Managed Investment Learning Experience (SMILE) Fund was formed in February 2015 and officially received funds totaling $250,000 from the UC Foundation on July 1, 2015.
